So far, Nepal has reported 219 coronavirus infection cases and zero death cases. Currently, 186 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and 33 were discharged after recovery.
Globally, the coronavirus pandemic has infected 4,357,357 people as of today, and the death toll stands at 293,134. Currently, there are 2,453,192 active cases with 2,406,862 mild cases and 46,330 critical cases. Meanwhile, 1,611,031 patients were discharged after a successful recovery.
COVID-19 in Nepal:
Among the Nepali States, Province-2 has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases so far.
With 62 new COVID-19 cases in a single day on May 12, the total number of cases in the state has reached 94.
District-wise COVID-19 Cases
- Parsa District – 82
- Rautahat District – 3
- Bara District – 3
- Dhanusha District – 2
- Mahottari District – 2
- Saptari District – 1
- Sarlahi District – 1
Among the eight districts in Province-2, Siraha is the only district that has not witnessed any COVID-19 cases so far.
According to Senior Health Officer Bijaya Kumar Jha, the Province-2 Government has collected 3,936 swab samples in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of swab collections to 16,908.
The government has intensified the swab sample collections in the Parsa district after it witnessed a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases.
Medical teams were mobilized in Saptari and Siraha districts for swab sample collection as they share common border with Udayapur district of State-1 which reported many COVID-19 cases.
So far, the government has quarantined 1,494 people in 179 facilities across the state while 4,522 people were kept in home quarantine.
Meanwhile, Bagmati State has closed Churiyamai transit point to prevent the spread of coronavirus from Province-2.
