Nepal Reports 9 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Reaches 258

As per the coronavirus situation in the country, it seems that Nepal is following the traces of other countries.

Even though the number of cases in the country is very less, Nepal is continuously witnessing new COVID-19 cases every day.

The first case of COVID-19 in Nepal was reported on January 24, 2020. And it took two months to witness the second case on March 23, 2020. The coronavirus cases crossed 100 on May 7, 2020.

Surprisingly, the country has reported over 150 coronavirus cases in just two weeks.

Today, the Nepali Government has reported nine new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 258.

Among the 9 patients, one is from Makwanpur while the rest are from Banke.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old patient undergoing treatment in Koshi Hospital has been recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 36.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota, the Nepali Government has conducted 3,371 sample tests in the last 24 hours.

So far, the government has conducted 22,664 tests through the PCR method and 62,327 tests through the RDT method.

The government has intensified sample testing in highly affected areas. It has sent 4,007 RDT kits and 7,000 pieces VTM, PPE to all the states except Gandaki and Bagmati.

Meanwhile, a Crisis Management Committee meeting chaired by Chief District Officer of Parsa Bishnu Kumar Karki has decided to open fire on COVID-19 patients if they try to escape from the isolation wards.

The local authority took this decision after two patients escaped from the isolation ward of Narayani Zonal Hospital on May 14, 2020.
