Nepal continues to reel under the drastic consequences of the unprecedented floods and landslides triggered by the monsoon rainfalls.
Lately, at least 20 houses were swept away due to the landslides and floods caused by torrential rainfall in the Dhorpatan Municipality of Baglung. Bobagn, Sukurdung, and Sherabang villages were worst hit by the floods in the municipality.
The Nepal Police, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force have started rescue and relief operations at the incident site.
According to the Police Inspector Prakash Singh Bhandari, over 30 people went missing in the floods.
Some of the identified missing persons are:
- Kaushala Pun, 35 and her six-year-old son, Hikmat, 6
- Jeet Bahadur Gharti, 35
- Raju Gharty, 40
- Kumari BK, 30
- Putali BK, 19
- Karmati Ghartimagar, 32
- Rina Ghartimagar, 35
- Dilmaya Ghartimagar, 35 and her six-year-old son
- Doti Pun, 55
- Tulmati Pun, 52
- Nabin Bhandari
So far, the rescue teams have retrieved eight dead bodies with the help of local people.
“The loss of properties and the exact number of people missing in the floods are yet to be ascertained,” exclaimed Bhandari.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, along with Lawmaker Upendra Paudel, has left for Baglung today to inspect the flood-hit Dhorpatan rural municipality.
