Nepali Peacemaker Senchurey Bags ‘International Peace Award 2020’

Rajendra Senchurey, a Nepali peacemaker, has been selected as the winner of the ‘Books for Peace – International Awards 2020‘ for his contribution to promoting the culture of peace and a world without violence.

The award ceremony was organized on September 12 at the Academic Hall of the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome of Italy.

Unfortunately, Senchurey could not attend the event due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He has been working towards preserving humanity and peace among people across South Asian and European countries.

Rajendra is a Peacebuilding Trainer and Consultant; Peace, Conflict and Civil Resistance Educator; TJ Specialist; and Peace Ambassador.

His expertise in interreligious harmony, preventing violent extremism, post-conflict justice, and peacebuilding fetched his merits during the award selection process.

Senchurey has published dozens of newspaper articles on peace and justice issues, making himself an independent contributor to peacebuilding.

Earlier, he was also nominated as an IEPS Ambassador by the Australian Institute for Economics and Peace for his contributions to art, culture, peace, and the social sector.

The Books for Peace Award is being organized by a group of associations including FUNVIC (FundaĂ§Ă£o UniversitĂ¡ria Vida CristĂ£), Brazil Club UNESCO BFUCA-WFUCA Europe section, ANASPOL (National Association of Non- commissioned Local Police Agents), IADPES (International Academy Diplomatic Pax et Salus), and National Association of Justice of the Peace.
