A cold wave gripped Kathmandu Valley today as the minimum temperature dropped to a record low this year, affecting normal life.
According to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the Valley’s minimum temperature was recorded at 2.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 17 to 19 degrees Celsius today.
The MFD informed that the Western Terai witnessed thick fog and mist while Eastern Terai, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces had comparatively thinner fog and mist. Poor visibility due to extreme cold can pose a severe challenge for road and air travel.
The temperature recorded in the Kathmandu Valley in the last few days:
- December 14 – 4 degrees Celsius
- December 15 – 3 degrees Celsius
- December 16 – 2.8 degrees Celsius
- December 17 – 2.3 degrees Celsius
