Following in the footsteps of the Dahal-Nepal faction of NCP, the Nepali Congress (NC) party is holding protests across the nation against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.
On December 21, President Bhandari, on PM Oli’s recommendation, dissolved the Lower House of the Parliament and announced mid-term elections on April 30 and May 10, 2021, sparking controversies and protests across Nepal.
Today, NC is organizing protest rallies in all 165 election constituencies, calling the House dissolution an unconstitutional, undemocratic, and autocratic move by PM Oli.
Since the dissolution, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of NCP, The Janata Samajbadi Party, other political parties, and student unions have been holding protests across the country.
On December 27, students of the rival faction of NCP close to Dahal and Nepal organized a whistle rally in Kathmandu. Marching along the Maitighar-Babarmahal road section, the protesters blew whistles demanding the reinstatement of the Lower House.
Likewise, Janata Samajbadi Party took to the streets on Sunday protesting the dissolution of the Parliament by PM Oli.
Former PM Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, along with party leaders, including Upendra Yadav, Mahantha Thakur, and Ashok Rai, marched along the streets along the Ratnapark – Putalisadak – Shanti Batika road section.
Meanwhile, civil rights activists, including intellectuals, writers, poets, artists, and the general public, staged demonstrations at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu on Saturday, stating the dissolution as an unconstitutional move.
