Nepal reports lowest daily COVID-19 tally in 10 days with 7,368 new cases

Nepal reported 7,368 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the nation’s total infections to 455,020.

The Himalayan country also recorded a dismal figure of 145 mortalities caused by this deadly virus, pushing the total death toll to 5,001.

Kathmandu, the capital city, registered 1,881new cases while other places such Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 436 cases and 292 cases, respectively. While 7,316 people tested positive by RT-PCR tests, the rested were confirmed to be infected by antigen tests. 52 people tested Covid positive in a total of 344 antigen tests.

Despite sealing off most of the border that Nepal shares with the COVID-19 crippled India, the Himalayan country is upended by this virus. However, for the first time in 10 days, Nepal has witnessed a dip in infections. The country’s total active cases stand at 110,263

A total of 6,648 infected people recovered completely from the virus in the last 24 hours. This welcome development signals that a total of 339,756 infected individuals have recovered.

Nepal is combating the pandemic by strong-arming the national healthcare system with oxygen cylinders received from China on Sunday.
