The World Health Organization (WHO) has come forward to bolster South-East Asia, including Nepal, in fighting the pandemic. The organization will be sending 340 MT of essential medical supplies to the region. WHO impressed that it will continue its efforts to amass more resources for the critically affected countries of this region.
“Thousands of oxygen concentrators, testing kits, hospital beds, tents and personal protective equipment are among critical supplies that are being shipped to countries and rushed to areas where they are needed the most,” said Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director of WHO South-East Asia.
4000 oxygen concentrators, 120+ tents, 400 medical beds for mobile hospitals, and many more supplies were shipped to New Delhi, an excerpt from the statement of WHO read. The organization is aiming to bring additional supplies for Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
“This is a battle that cannot be fought alone. To curtail the pandemic, we must work together and step up to help each other within and outside our borders,” said Dr. Poonam Singh.
