Monsoon Mayhem Continues: Almost 400 Houses in Valley Inundated!

The monsoon rainfall continues to wreak havoc across the Himalayan nation, especially in Kathmandu Valley.

The Valley has witnessed a heavy downpour in the wee hours of today from 2 AM to 6 AM.

According to meteorologist Kumar Aryal, Kathmandu has recorded 105 mm of rainfall, inundating more than 100 places in just 4 hours.

The coastal areas including Bagmati, Dhobikhola, Bishnumati, Manhora, and Hanumante rivers have overflown due the floods.

The corridors of Anamnagar, Kalopul, Ratopul, Balkhu and other riverside areas of Kathmandu Valley have been inundated.

Likewise, the flash floods have inundated the fruit and vegetable market of Balkhu.

According to Metropolitan Police Office Spokesperson Sushil Singh Rathore, a total of 385 houses have been inundated this morning.

“Areas including Tankeshwor, Teku, Dallu, Balkhu, Tachal, Bhimsensthan, Naya Buspark, Chabahil, Machha Pokhari, Kalopul, and Jorpati were largely inundated by the flash floods,” said Rathore.

“Rescue work was carried out at Mulpani settlements on the bank of Manohara River, Kadagari, Teku and Balkhu areas, informed Rathore.

Meanwhile, the floods in Myagdi district on Sunday night have swept away the Darkhola Hydropower Project II located in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2.

The powerhouse and the canal of the  42 KW hydropower project have been washed away.
