The healthcare system in Nepal seems to be on the verge of breakdown as coronavirus continues to spread across the country.
The sudden surge in coronavirus cases in Nepal has led to the speculation that the country lacks adequate health facilities to prevent contagion.
The country started witnessing many coronavirus cases every day since the start of May.
In the last 24 hours, the Nepali Government has reported 25 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 427. So far, two persons have died from COVID-19 in Nepal.
The latest COVID-19 cases include:
- 6 in Banke
- 5 in Dhankuta
- 13 in Kapilvastu
Meanwhile, eight patients were recovered and discharged from the Koshi Hospital, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 45.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), six personnel of Nepal Police have been infected with COVID-19. As a result, the Nepal Police has quarantined around 50 police officers to prevent the spread of the contagion.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Government has planned to send a team of 10 health workers including doctors each to Province 2 and Province 5.
