The Hindu community in Nepal is set to witness the tallest idol of Lord Shiva in the country. The idol of Lord Shiva being constructed in Pumdikot of Pokhara Metropolitan City-24 is reported to be 45% completed.
The full-sized structure of the idol is set to be 108 feet tall, while the ‘sitting idol’ is 51 feet tall. The installation cost of the idol is estimated at NPR 400 million.
The construction of the tallest Lord Shiva statue is expected to boost religious tourism in Pokhara, which is already a top tourist destination in western Nepal.
“We expect to complete the work within two years. Apart from the religious point of view, the spot is sure to support the promotion of tourism in Pokhara,” said Chandrakanta Baral, Construction Committee Chairman.
